Those Days...These Days

Cranberry or Apple
Shaken or stirred
Luncheon here, cocktails there
"What to wear! What to wear!"
Work, work, work
Got to go, got to go
Do this, do that
Get here, get there
The timetable of life
Beat, fair and square.

..........................

Counting the days,
The weeks and the chores
Feeling a kick, feeling a roll
A stirring within
Inside at the core
Not like anything
Ever felt before
Anticipation gnawing
Excitement mounting
If it’s going to be like this
I want more, more

I thought kiruba was the evil twin (since I know he doesn't frequent these parts). No chikuba is the DAV version of rockpaperscissors... need to put a post on that. It sucks!

wish gabby idnt have word verification, I would have chatted with you all day long and spammed her comment box.

Gabby: Yeh Dil Maange More? Would thayiru suffice instead? Ok, that was a PPJ! But it sure brought a smile to my face :) And hows grandmom-to-be doing?
And oh btw, in case if those mood swings make you wanna give in to Alpha's bullying and take off word verification, remember to say NO. She made me take off my word verification and bam I found myself hit by a porn bot!

Akruti - Ah the bout of enthusiasm seems to be passing...gotta hang on, gotta hang on..

Zepplin - All over huh? Like tremors?...I had those actually, in the early denial phase of the pregnancy :)

vc - no system. the man has promised to di it all :D....yes, caught him in a weak moment...he doesn't know what hit him! Hee Hee!

Alpha - hello 8th month, ab nahin spoil tho when??? & Chi-ku-ba is bring back bad memories, please to be remembering my delicate state and refraining!

Prerona - Thanks hon. Love at first sight, hmmm. Hope this honeymoon doesn't end else, we're in DEEP trouble...

Alpha - The word verification is what keeps things in control...else we would have people replying to everybody else's comments, nothing wrong with that I hasten to add...just misleading nay? :) And come, what's a little squinting and typing when it comes to showing the world your wit? :)

Anon - You remind me of someone I know very well. Well, it does seem like you have been to the other side and haven't fallen in love. Unfortunate. And somehow very unlikely. I'm so sure you haven't been there yet, and that too is unfortunate. Good luck! (Sorry, you've caught me right in the middle of my euphoria..! LOL!)

Ash - We do! And the chosen name has elicited a "Whaaat?" from the Mom and the in-laws...so we're hoping our generation loves it. :)

Anti - Blame the hormones or the lack-of-the-Tam-background (Amen!), but I didn't get your joke. Can I assume it's a PJ and move on, assured that I'm not losing out? And you poor thing, when will you learn not to fall in for Alpha's vices?...I've had horrible experiences with spam, word verification stays on FOREVER...and don't worry, if she loves you, she will write you, word-veri or not. LOL!

vc - Geez! I know 2 potential participants who might just win the tournament...one is related to Alpha (though not by choice! LOL!!!) Are you an enthusiast too? Careful now, cool-factor is heavily under consideration while we wait for your answer. (Alpha, please note...vc might be one of them)

gabby- still shuddering at the prospect of web-based chi-ku-ba torunaments. I bet VC is one of 'them'. Cool factor was very minimal to begin with...slightly soared up when self found out that he is from my old school...now it (cool factor) is in the record low.

Vc, just asking, can you play with both hands? Chi-ba, chi-chi, ba-chi? *crossing fingers and hoping self doesn't need to come up with word verification code that keeps chikuba players at bay*

aaarrrgg..now to go and squint my eyes.

8th month? 5th se 8th ekdum? bacche ko double promotion mila kya?

*thinking if there is anything else I can add to this comment..considering word verification not my favorite sport*

Say hi to hubby, mom and everyone else in Boston. Your friend delivered kya?

and yes, Anti...I love you even if I don't comment on your posts. It's a given.

More often than not, it is a feeling of emptiness that takes over you after the baby comes. But then that will be a seperate blog piece, I hope.

So be prepared is all I have to say !

9:51 AM
Blogger Alpha said...

For this, I had to torture myself to WV again. This is important. Regarding the baby's name. Kannada speaking friends (mostly the rowdy ones) are asking in earnest for you to reconsider. On the streets of Bangalore, it's supposed to mean something very vile. They didn't say what. I personally like the name (in a strange way), but the need to protect nephew's interests overcame desire to keep his parents happy. Please be doing research with bangalore porkis (your hubby sadly doesn't qualify).

9:56 AM
Blogger GratisGab said...

Alpha - You are as daft as they come when it comes to pregnancy. The baby comes at the end of the 9th month OK? Write that down. Now I have 7-8 weeks to go. So tell me which month I am in (little brain exercise for you). Mom and India in general calculate from a different starting point (All explained to you via diff mediums - phone/email/person). So Sreemantam was in 7th month. I don't know WHERE you got 5th month!!!! End of topic....Friend is any day now kinda thing. Suddenly jealous, she'll be done. Oh did I tell you CA one delivered on the dot. Will send pics. Baby has lotsa hair. No doubt Dad is jealous...Hee Hee...again, pics will help. Will check Kannada issue. Thanks for heads-up.

Anon - Oh yes, all braced for that. Somehow "empty" sounds good when I think of my midriff/tummy/general torso area nowadays. Full/air-tight is the current feeling...:)
No, I do get what you're saying...hopefully the needy ones (baby, blog) will help ride that wave when I come to it. Be assured I won't spare ya'll then too!

Gabby: Oh ok.. Since you are Tam-challenged (as is Alpha, btw)More = Buttermilk in Tam. Thayiru in Tam = Masuru in Kannada = Yoghurt. And in Tam-land, Thayiru and More are substitutable for the last course of any meal! So, if your dil maange more, in Tam land, you can substitute it with Thayiru!
And abt Alpha, she is daft, really..And, in spite of her proclaimed affection (which makes be wary and I need to watch my back!), she is making me think twice about the "bua" status that I given her.

Alpha: You ARE daft! And btw, what be "porkis"? Kindly explain? Are they a secret cabal of pork eaters in Bengaluru (like the beefies of Chennai who huddle in the shadows eating beef biryani)?

VC: Ahhh.. Chi-ku-ba is like that soda ad thing! Hmmm..So this is like Cha-Boo-Thri.

Anti/Gabby - how dare you call Alpha (she -of-same-school-as-VC fame) daft!! Better apologize! (Anti - please skip the appalagize-ammalagize PPPPPJ :).
Alpha - see, I stood up for you! NOW has my cool factor soared again! Please, please, please, please!!!

9:08 AM
Blogger Alpha said...

Ze Alpha has been instigated to comment yet again inspite of nefarious means adopted by blog author to keep her away with gimmicks like word verification. Not to mention the over use of the word 'daft' many times in context of said Alpha. She has just one word for you all anti social elements - grrrr!

VC, Thank God you put a stop to the very apparant anti-like PJ. cool factor has been morphed to freeze factor. Make sure it doesn't thaw. Love you more than anti. (don't prematurely celebrate, it's not a high benchmark)

Gabby, Oh yes..How can I forget the pregnancy calculator you loaned me to figure out when all my friends concieved. Don't know why I was stuck in the 5th month. Oh wow! 8th??

Anti, take back bua status. I didn't tell you, but I never liked it in the first place. Phew..now my heart feels lighter.

Don't force me to comment guys! Lot of hard work it is. I type the word in the WV slot before typing the comment (get the worst out first funda). By the time I am done typing, the word freaking changes on me! bah!

9:53 AM
Blogger GratisGab said...

?! - Your comments are getting too cryptic for me. I need things spelt out buddy. So :)) translates to "I'm crazy"? Somebody let Smiley know! :)

zepplin - I will remember that and enjoy this time when I am still stronger than him! Though some of the recent kicks show I'm nurturing quite a rebel!

Arunima - Good to hear about the birth of a girl...everyone I know seems to be having boys..was getting seriously worried about our kind..

Anti - Curd-rice (as the rest of the world calls it) is the opposite of a baby dude! Curd-rice calms the chaos, lightens the load and in general is a peace bringer. The baby is well, more spirited. Long live both! At this point I can't imagine life without either! :)
Also please note that Anti is the one to extrapolate Alpha's daftness into general life. I'd restricted her limited math-capabilities to pregnancy. Which was pretty justified actually, considering she and I have had several discussions (more than she cared to) about my pregnancy. This was followed up by her very recent visit to Boston and then she didn't even get my trimester right, let alone the month...but Anti, your reason was kinda lame as I didn't find one spam comment on your blog. So obviously you have bigger reasons. So do share. It's all about sharing.

Peggy - Thanks much. I hope so too. Other than eating right and exercising, there's so little in our hands.

vc - Aiyoo...cool-factor is inversely proportional to despo-factor. So please to stop with the "Pleases"...But seems like it worked on Alpha as she has quickly displaced the disgruntled Anti and given you the time of the day. Congratulations, the Queen will let you rest your bum at her ankles now.

Alpha - No need calculator. Just to keep ears open. Follow Pi's policies on ear-cleaning - he is quite into that I remember. :) Even with all these problems, you have vc doting on your approval..

Ah, I'm so happy that my blog is bringing you all together in love and harmony...(Mommy psyche kicking in)

10:46 AM
Blogger Alpha said...

Gabby, resting bum on ankles is kinda new...do they teach you such morose stuff in your preggy classes? But to think of it, it's not a bad deal either, expect what to do if ankles start hurting/itching? Can I get the said bum to displace..say to my couch?

Regarding ?!, its rather strange. He answers a question that was never asked. The question mark-exclamation marks talk to each other too. I witnessed it once. Cool factor going up as I don't understand a thing.

11:04 AM
Blogger anantha said...

Gabby: About the spam, it happened on her blog, not mine. And it was the day after she declared that porn spammers had been eradicated and convinced me that Word Veri had to go. And I calmly agreed, since sometimes you trust the people who you think no better. But her daftness was no extrapolation. The data was right there to plot. Case at point, her own admission regarding this word verification issue!

Alpha: I was right.. Daft it is. You have go and comment first and then go ahead with the Word Veri, not the other way around! Oh, btw, patience is a virtue, anytime!
Regarding your status, I gave you both the "bua" status and the "Queen" title! I will take it back whenever I want. For now, it stays, cos I think you need it.
Btw, the cool factor goes up if you dont understand a thing? Hmmm...

*decides to go and do a post in Tamil on his blog next ..

VC: If my guess about your school is right, both your (you and Alpha, that is) coolness factor will come down a notch. So sit down (since you seem to have stood up for my bua)! ;)

11:22 AM
Blogger GratisGab said...

Alpha - The question mark and exclamation point talk to eachother? This I HAVE to see. What an animated discussion that must be.

And don't worry, the subjects don't sit ON the Queen's ankles, they sit AT the ankles...But if said ankles need some massaging then you can ask him to make himself useful in any which way. You are limited only by your imagination.

Anti - Okay today, you are funny. I would suggest sprinkling sanskrit sounding big-time tongue twisters in your Tamil post, Alpha will make you King even! LOL @ comment to VC.

Alpha, VC is sitting down, so make up your mind about where he needs to rest the bum, and don't change your mind when it's mid-air, heartless one!

11:55 AM
Blogger Alpha said...

gabby ..akin to you changing your mind when your poor friends carried the heavy shelf from your basement to the first floor?

Are you saying Anti normally doesn't write in Tamil? Maybe I shud read his posts then.

DO NOT encourage Anti by laughing at his Pjs. Someone did to mine, and look what happened.

Anti, What's a wayward spam in return for your dedicated reader's comfort?

12:09 PM
Blogger GratisGab said...

LOL! Yes, akin to that indeed...only here you don't even have vested interest in not damaging any parts, as they shelf, err bum, is not yours. My heart goes out to VC.

Anti has started writing in English nowadays actually (I think so that we visit and bring some cosmo-factor to it). But when he visits other people, entire Tam of Tamil Nadu explodes in their comment boxes...even if they don't understand a word of the language...that's how they spread their faith....like the Christians who try to sell us books...

12:18 PM
Blogger Alpha said...

lol @ anti's tam in other people's comment boxes. True true..I have seen sudden dwindling in my non-tam readers ever since Anti and Thennavan started singing Tamil duets in my comment box. The faith is really not spreading as well as they had envisioned. I even had to write a 600 word rant about my Tamil skills to give subtle hints. Now he calls me daft..tsk tsk.

12:23 PM

Yes, along with some annoying ad that keeps opening up when I visit the puzzle pieces, are the comments I don't get. It got very big at one point. Potent mix I tell you, do something, do something!
