Binding fear!

Two weeks ago...

My mom has called in to check on the status of her grandchild besides other things. Mr.G is dutifully filling her in with the details on the poo and pee stories.

Mr.G: Gabby is coming aunty, she just came back from the mall and...

Pause.

I run up the stairs taking two at a time..shaking my head and flailing arms wildly though I know that there is no way I can get there in time.

Mr.G: No, no aunty...she helps my mother a lot. She made dinner in fact.

“Thank you, thank you” I mouth. These moments of timely white lies are when my love for Mr.G doubles up.

....................................................................................

This weekend...

Mr.G is on his weekly call with his grandmother. This is the mother-in-law’s mom we are talking about. The topic is the great-grandson of course. Conversation is in tamil here, but the gist is fairly easy to understand.

Mr.G: Yes, yes he does. Yes, yes we do. No, no everyday. Oil bath.

Pause.

Mr.G: No, Gabby gives him his bath.

The m-i-l has rushed out of the kitchen...shaking head and flailing arms wildly.

Mr.G: Actually amma gives him his oil-massage and everything…Gabby only does the final part.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you”
m-i-l mouths, wrings hands and retreats into the kitchen.

.................................................................................

The decades that separate us notwithstanding, I think I just might get along with my m-i-l....as I find we have some basic things in common :)

visthra - at first MrG would never lie...it's taken me years to get him this far...mil is pleasantly surprised!

alpha - when it's a question of CMA in front of family, he performs ok...now how to get him to lie when I'm yapping about other stuff i dont know. you know how he kills my style sometimes!

ashok - get used to it :)

shub - he ok re. currently using his voice much like the rest of us in the house. ALL THE TIME.

kj - he rolled over and now he flops around on his belly like a worm. it's really funny, we make a lot of fun of him. will send pics...

sqrlnt, alpha - Unfortunately, the working-for-his-living part gets in the way of MrG's happiness...he is happiest in the lawn or garage or by his computer, breaking or making stuff...
wish the tinkering would pay for my expeditions alpha, we would be one happy couple then!!...

the little one is BASKING...saala never wants to be put down.

enjoyed the blog. I was laughing away- and do appreciate Mr. G's 'tact'-
after 17years of marital bliss, my hubby still blinks sometimes when I do the 'shaking my head and flailing my arms wildly' and gives me a look of 'what did i say wrong now?'
hugs to the lil one...

You know, when I see a comment from you on my blog, I understand two things:
1. We the other bloggers are not forgotten
2. There is another superb post waiting on Gabby's blog!

And I have never been wrong in the past 6 months!

This post was simply a wow-initiating post! You know, some female friends of mine say that making the wild uncouth man you marry into the superb gentlemanly hubby is what marriage is all about. And Mr. G seems to have had more than adequate dosages of training from you! :)

Kyunki saas bhi ... etc.

MILs invariably look down on DILs cos their son's taste is suspect.

Till a grandkid comes along and they grudgingly admit your role in the kid :)

Nice to have ya back.

ardra - Well, I've CHA too! Why do you think my Mom loves him? :)

tinky - that's us indeed...dont see too many men do it!..baby is good...doing his thing....and leaving us with the clean-ups.

sudipta - believe you me, this has come after a loooong time!

amitl - He lives with two women...his wife and his mother. Of course his survival skills have developed. It's called evolution..

the_girl_from_ipanema - thanks :)

Ashwin - My mom funnily...my m-i-l not so much. Now why is that...brings me to the long, deep side of things. Not blogworthy at all though.

?! - My baby, my baby....hence I'm important? Nah...sometimes it's best to take care of things yourself...
Nice to have YOU back!
